The power of holding a gun in your hand is the power to end lives and Americans don’t take the subject lightly. The education in gun laws is always hot. We see politicians looking to steal headlines in the name of “gun control” so we must stay informed. Freedom ain’t easy. Being safe requires being thorough. Each state is a government and each county’s law enforcement carries out the implementation of these laws, and in the process, a gun owner becomes an educated citizen. In this article we hope to quickly touch on a few topics for beginner gun owners regarding laws but you should never stop learning. Good gun owners realize the importance of doing things correctly. That entails understanding gun laws and staying up to date on state and federal laws. Concealed carry laws differ from state to state and some treat you as if you were in your own state. This is reciprocity. You’ll want to understand reciprocity laws when crossing state lines. Understanding is necessary concerning the concealed carry differences between states. Nevada is a "shall issue" state for concealed carry. As long as Nevada residents check out well in background checks, they get the license to carry their guns in a concealed manner. In Nevada, no permit is required for open carry. Other states are different. Universal background checks started In November 2016 when Nevada voters approved Ballot Question 1. This made background checks required for person-to-person gun sales, which are private gun sales made in Nevada by people “ not engaged in the business" of selling firearms to sell firearms, no license needed. This was called the“gun show loophole”. It is no more in Nevada. January 2020 the laws go into effect for universal background checks, however Nevada counties are fighting the new law with their sherifs declaring themselves “second amendment sanctuary counties”. They are refusing to back up this law which at least one congressman has called “unenforceable”. Second Amendment sanctuaries have become a national movement. Counties and jurisdictions are standing up to refuse to comply with state laws that overstep boundaries like privacy. Sheriffs are saying no. the movement began in Effingham Country, Illinois 2018 in response to the governor’s new legislation there. The crosswinds of change came, boom. Gun laws involve how we carry our weapons. Don’t be careless when taking your gun out because brandishing has become like a solemn ceremony with each movement scrutinized. You should know how your state and city regard brandishing and printing laws because if your gun is exposed too much, that can determine your fate. You can show your gun off if it’s educational but if you’re rude about it, if a threat is perceived, this is brandishing and it’s no bueno. Printing is the visibility of your gun through your clothes. It can’t show too much but generally, you’re ok if you have it covered. Come in and ask us anything. My entire fall is spent with guns. I start duck hunting, then hunt for grouse, and deer hunt in the late fall. All of these activities require a gun and different types of guns. You can also deer hunt with a bow and an arrow but I prefer to use a firearm because it is not as efficient and can be harmful to the animal if you don’t get the perfect shot. Ever since I started hunting I have enjoyed the use of firearms and learned much about them and how dangerous they can be if they are not used with extreme caution. If anyone were to take away firearms this would really impact my life. All the things I did growing up would be lost. Hunting would become obsolete and I would lose an important hobby and tradition of my life would be lost and forgotten. My family also heavily relies on deer meat. If there were no guns and we would have to use bow and arrow. Bow and arrow hunting is risky and not very efficient. Hunting with a bow and arrow can be more fun than rifle hunting but you have a better chance of getting a deer with a firearm. Firearms are very important to me and I hope that they can always be in my life. So I can continue to use them and enjoy the sport of hunting. Hunting is a big part of my life and it would change greatly if I could no longer hunt or use firearms. Willey Brothers Firearms supplies all the firearms and ammunition I seek for my hunting endeavors. Contributed by Guest Blogger, WG Business Engagement Program First, you need to be a Nevada resident and have a government-issued ID with a physical address proving residency. Then, we'll perform a background check. The background check involves filling out a one-page document and paying a $25 state fee. We make a 5 minute phone call to the state to confirm your eligibility. Then you're good to buy a gun and walk out of the store with it!
